Bedroom Update

New Bedding from Biscuit Home  They had the perfect turquoise color that was similar to the Matouk Lowell but at least half the price.  High quality, amazing feeling sheets.

Bathroom, Bedroom, Boudoir

And get the finest fixtures for your bathroom, bedroom, boudoir.
Or my name ain't, Nathan Arizona.
Oh, but I digress.

My little bedroom has been coming along.  Here's what we have so far.

I need a light fixture and think this pendant would be perfect.  Oh yes.  It will be mine.  Or on second thought.  Might be too busy.  We'll see.

I'm feeling like this Matouk Lowell in aquamarine might be nice to bring all the sea foam green, light blue, turquoise action together.

I love coming home and working from my bed.  My boudoir however is a disaster.  Our home is old and my hubs isn't a master builder but he's always the lowest bidder, so here we are.
No straight lines in the dressing room.  It's got a stair above and since it's so small, I am thinking I could wallpaper the whole thing, ceiling included and trick the eye not to see the sloped lines.  Thoughts?

I want to get bifold doors and put some kind of antiqued mirrors on there for the closet.  Must recover that stool.

Here's the inspiration.

I am a little obsessed with gold mirrors and with this

Tanzania by Thibaut wallpaper, they could really pop.

Look at ma petite chou chou making a little picnic for me.  XO

Vintage Glass Tortoise Lamp!

My sweet husband went to Pieces and got this AHHHHmazing vintage Tortoise Glass lamp for our anniversary!

I used this lamp when I saw it on the website in a post at least a year ago. I sourced two for side tables in a friends bedroom remodel. Little did I know tht there was only 1 and that it was HUGE! until I stopped in last month and there it was. I asked the salesperson if they got a lot of them in and she said it was the only one. Be still my heart. I relayed this story to Tim who went the next day and got it.

I walked into the house with the kids and said "OH MY GOD" while the kids went on their way. After 12 more "Oh MY GOD's" and 5 minutes of not moving from the door, Mary Elle ventured back to me and looked between me and the lamp and said "Oh My God, dat a light". And then I snapped out of it realizing I had taught my 2 yr old a semi-profanity.

Anyway, dat is a light!
All lit up!

Embroidery Update!!!

As it turns out, I neither excel at nor enjoy embroidery!  I do not have the time or the patience for it.  As my almost 90 year old Grandmother Salter says in reference to her paints, "I'm going to do art when I get old".  She's not ready to start yet.  So I guess I'll do embroidery when I get old.

South of Hampton however is so ready to embroider all your things and beautifully!  Crystal, the owner, is soooo nice.  Check her out in Buckhead behind the old Sardis Church.  She has a show coming up too.  I told her my tale to design and embroider the pillows myself, and she said " oh, you should do that."  It'd be so much nicer hand done.  Well, it'd never happen so here is my South of Hampton pillow which I will sew together myself.  Of course that isn't done yet.  I'm going to add a second pillow too.

Deciding against the black piping I was going to do.  It will be too much I think.  Going to do gold or something.

Aint Life Grand!

Just finished a great 7 am yoga class at Exhale with Brianna. It is AHHH mazing how yoga changes my perspective about everything! I feel joyful and more productive and the kids are attracted to me like white on rice when I'm practicing like I should. Your energy changes. It's tangible and those around you can feel it too.
When I'm not starting a new business, being a "stay at home mom" desperate to start/finish a DIY home improvement or writing the occassional blog, I'm teaching yoga. I teach most everyday and sometimes twice. Teaching is certainly not doing though.

Having a juice now. dTox: Wholesome Juice and Junk is opening November 1st and someone at yoga said they saw a press clip about it this week!! Wonder where. Excting time!

Stay tuned!

Big kiss!

MaryElle's Valance and Drapes

I didn't pad the valance with batting. It only makes it look sloppy to me so it's just fabric on wood. Of course I just clipped the drapes up and haven't sewn them. One has several feet of fabric hanging behind the chair for big girl bed pillows. I'll get to it eventually but wanted to play around with the drape and pleating etc. May add something to the edges. I'm having my Sister Parish/Grandmother Howell moment in her room.

Missoni for Target

I remembered to head to Target after seeing my sister in law write about setting her alarm for every hour so as not to miss a 6am opening. I moseyed over around 8:30 and there were several women milling around the clothes but I got all the zigzags I could handle and headed to the home goods. I got the glasses that were neutral and then headed to the dressing rooms. I passed all the colorful candles and pillows and throws that just aren't my style. I tried the clothes and the only semi-neutral piece, the shell and the infinity scarf made the cut. I saw the shoes on the way out and had to have those. Cute and only 40 bucks. They'll be good WSP shoes to ruin.

It was getting a little more chaotic as I was leaving. Seems all the Buckehad Bettys had hit their Targets and were now ready for Midtown's. Some lady announced, "Don't bother going to Buckhead! I already bought all the Extra Larges!"

And about that. Be aware that horizontal stripes and zigzags are not many people's friends. Check yourself.

The Playroom

As it turns out, we didn't need to move from New York to Atlanta after all. We would have done just fine in our 300 sq foot studio with the pullout couch. The kids want to be in whatever room we are in anyway and wake up with us every morning. Who knew?

The playroom sits unused unless I get ready to play. That's not entirely true. We have a gate that we use to lock them in sometimes.
